The goal of L&T is to eliminate the situation, when waste bags were simply left on the streets and to promote tidiness in the Old Riga, and therefore L&T offers two solutions to transfer solid household waste for the clients’ convenience:
Containers
If the client provides the space to place the waste container of appropriate capacity, it will be emptied at the preliminary agreed schedule and frequency according to the contract. This system is similar to the one used elsewhere, however, in this case the client should consider that may streets of the Old Riga are not appropriate for big-size vehicles and the containers should not create inconveniences to the traffic and people.
The L&T® client card
If the client wants to go on using containerless waste collection rout to transfer solid household waste, L&T offers the client card.
On the L&T® client card
The client card is provided for the persons (physical and legal), who have made the contract on management of waste with L&T. There are 3 kind of cards available – to transfer 45 liters (up to 9 kg), 100 liters (up to 20 kg), and 200 liters (up to 40 kg) of solid household waste in the containerless waste collection rout in the Old Riga. Each card has a unique bar code and is provided for transfer of solid household waste bags with a specific volume.
How to use the L&T® client card
In this case the client should consider the service requirements:
- waste must be placed in a tied bags
- the bags are provided for transfer at a given time and location according to L&T’s containerless waste collection schedule
- after the card is registered and approved by the L&T’s employee, waste must be put in the garbage truck.
The number of waste bags rather than the volume or weight is important when transfer of waste.
It is possible to transfer solid house hold waste in a garbage truck only by presenting the client’s card in the Old Riga as from 16 January 2011.
The L&T® client card is provided for transfer of the solid household waste only. Waste is accepted only form the clients to present the L&T® client card.
We would like to point out that leaving waste bag in the inappropriate places (on pavements, streets, etc.) in line with Section 15 and Section 16 of the Waste management law and Section 75 of the Latvian Administrative violations code is a punishable act.
